Clean Sand Produces Success for LWAPETRO!

Established in 2020, LWAPETRO supplies and transports construction aggregates which is a material made up of sand, gravel, crushed stone, slag and recycled concrete, commonly used in construction.

Business owner, Chonga Lwazi recently faced a serious challenge that threatened his company’s future. As a supplier to many supply chains in Kimberley, the company struggled with the quality of their aggregate. The aggregate was not clean enough to produce a good compound, which resulted in many building materials such as concrete, glass and bricks either cracking or crumbling. This issue put the business at risk, and Lwazi knew he needed help.

Taking action, he applied for a grant from the Letsatsi Borutho Trust through its call for grant applications and was successful. Thanks to the support of the Trust, he received a sand washing machine, which has transformed the quality of his products and helped secure the business’s success.

“I am very grateful for this opportunity, which could not have come at a better time. With this machine, I can now improve the quality of my sand, and I am confident it will be well received by all retail stores, giving me the chance to grow my business and meet the demand,” said Lwazi.
