Youth Development

Youth Support and Community Resilience

In our previous community engagement meeting, we reported on the progress and way forward for the Youth Development Programme. The Trust expressed its commitment to ensuring that the implementing partner transfers skills to local youth development organisations, enabling them to continue this important work within their own communities.

To achieve this, youth organisations were invited to a dedicated training programme designed to transfer skills that support two key focus areas:

  • The Trailblazer Programme – supporting youth who are in school.

  • The Catalyst Programme – supporting youth who are out of school.

Following the training, three organisations, GM Sentlentse Foundation, Give Some Foundation, Galeshewe Youth Network, and San Community Development, were formally appointed as implementation partners of the Trust to extend these skills to young people. A total allocation of R3.5 million was shared amongst the four organisations to support their work.

This pilot phase marks the beginning of a long-term partnership between the Trust and these organisations. Going forward, they will lead the implementation of youth development programmes across Greenpoint, Platfontein, and Ritchie as priority areas, not excluding requests from other areas within 50 km radius from the Droogfontein Solar Power, ensuring that young people in these communities have access to sustained support and opportunities.
