Jacob Benjamin Jonkers is an experienced educator and community leader whose career has been shaped by a longstanding commitment to education, leadership and service.
After beginning his career as a teacher, he progressed into school leadership, serving as Deputy Principal and later as Principal at schools in the Northern Cape. His leadership journey includes serving as Principal of San Combined School, Xunkhwesa Combined School and most recently, William Pescod High School in Kimberley, where he served from 2015 until 2023. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Higher Diploma in Education from the University of the Western Cape.
Beyond the classroom, Jacob has remained actively involved in community life and has held leadership positions across a range of sporting, community, faith-based and alumni organisations. These include roles within the United School Sport Association of South Africa, community care organisations, the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa and the University of the Western Cape Alumni Kimberley Chapter.
His extensive experience in education and community leadership brings a valuable understanding of the importance of creating opportunities, strengthening communities and supporting initiatives that contribute to meaningful and sustainable development.
